According to Zumper, the average rent in Portland is currently $1,455. This is a 4% increase compared to the previous year. A lot of people who want to stay in Portland are considering renting,instead of owning their own house. With a lot of Oregonians unemployed due to the pandemic, lower rents may not make renting a house more affordable overall.

In case you didn’t know, the Portland area is separated into five sections suchs as Northwest, Southwest, Southeast, Northeast, and South area which was recently added according to the city’s plan.

The said city is divided between West and East by Willamette River. Portland is known as the Rose City. It is divided into small neighborhoods and has an outdoor feel. Here are some places that are the best place to live within Portland.

If you love food, and you’re a young professional, living in the Pearl District is the best for you. Known as The Pearl, it is also a desirable place to live if you’re starting out a family. With upscale, classy boutiques, and world-class food joints, the said area is also walkable for those who want to get rid of their cars and opt to use public transport, bikes and who love to walk.

A family-friendly neighborhood, Arlington Heights is also a great place for outdoor lovers. Walk around the International Rose Garden, visit the Holocaust Memorial, or have time with your children at the Portland Children Museum.

If you want to live nearby cafes, restaurants and boutique shops, living within Nob Hill or Northwest is the best for you. If you like French cuisine, dine in with friends at Paley’s Place. If you’re a chocolate lover, check out Moonstruck Chocolate Cafe. Also, Portland Streetcar system is within reach in the said area. It links Nob Hill to the Pearl District, the Downtown Cultural District, Portland State University and the South Waterfront area.

Laurelhurst is a kid-friendly neighborhood. They have 34 public schools and private schools in the area which consists of Laurelhurst K-8, Benson High School and Grant High School. There’s a group called Laurelhurst Kids Club which curates the list of parents in the area who have children who cater scheduled playdates. Also they compile a list of recommended babysitters. If you want to catch a classic flick on a weekend, visit Laurelhurst Theater.

Lastly, trendy neighborhoods like the West End are the best for those into fashion and forward-thinking individuals. If you love to shop, check out Bridge & Burn, Self Edge and Union Way.
