Figaro opens its Ayala Fairview Terraces branch

Last August 4, first Filipino coffee company, Figaro opened their newest branch in Ayala Fairview Terraces.

I am a coffee aficionado, and pastry addict. When I found out that Figaro finally have their branch in Fairview Terraces, I was excited to visit their quaint joint.

During the opening of the said branch, officials from Figaro, guests and bloggers graces the event. Good thing that it is located in the 4th floor cinema level of the said mall, it's a great place for hanging out with friends, chillaxin after seeing a movie and swing by for a meeting.

Drooled over their Club Sandwich, pasta, pizza, and pastries which match up with coffee or Frost. The moment I set foot with their branch in Fairview Terraces, cozy and the ambiance suits my need whenever I want to finish up my articles at work.

Few months ago, I attended King Bee Chinese Restaurant's opening at Fisher Mall. And growing up with Chinese tradition, me and my family used to going out every Sunday and checking out the best Chinese restaurant in the Metro.

Last month, while on my way to Commonwealth Avenue, I decided to drop by King Bee's Commonwealth branch. With their spacious place and accomodating attendants, this is the best place to gather your friends and family and to eat sumptuous Chinese cuisine.

They have a wide array of meals to chose from: Dimsums, Noodle Soups, Chicken, Seafoods, Pork and Beef. You can feel the authentic Chinese cuisine at King Bee.

An evening dining at Ariake Japanese Cuisine

An evening dining at Ariake Japanese Cuisine

Few weeks ago, I had a meeting with my team mates in an evening of laughter and fine dining at Ariake Japanese Cuisine.

Ariake is a Japanese restaurant located at Tomas Morato. I love to eat Japanese foods. Upon entering the place, I felt the homey feeling while dining the said joint.

When my teammates and I ordered our foods, I checked their menu and became curious on their Special Bento. I thought it's a small bento, but it's a BIG bento...literally! With California Roll, Mixed Tempura, and Kani Salad, I was devoured over eating this bento. It's delicious and craving for more when we're about to leave the place.

Ariake's Special Bento...nom nom nom!

I was amused on the small gadget in every table located in Ariake, you can push the button if you want to order another set of bento or ask assistance to the waiters/waitresses.

I would recommend Ariake to those who love to eat authentic Japanese cuisine. Affordable and relaxing ambiance that you want to visit them frequently.

Ariake opens from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Check out the resto located at Unit C Barreto Building, 284 Tomas Morator cor. Scout Rallos, Quezon City (beside Shakey's).

Gourmet Filipino Burger at Wham Burgers

Gourmet Filipino Burger at Wham Burgers

Do you love to eat burgers?

When it comes to burger, most of us want to eat delicious meal for a day and craving for more.

Wham Burger Katipunan

But there's a lot of people will agree that not all burgers are created the same, purveyors can be partial over a tried and tested recipe with American appeal coupled with an awesome classic taste that stands out.

In 2000, there weren’t really too many options for something one may call an affordable legendary burger—one is left with a choice of either having a basic burger in a fast food or very expensive hotels for something fancy.

Good friends Tony Yap and Dondi Lazaro began to experiment for their own concoction. After several trials, all signs point to build their own burger brand especially when both of their friends and families gave their seal of approval with their unique recipe discovery.

Although the evolution of gourmet burger didn’t happen overnight, there was surely a good market for foodies who have grown weary of the typical offerings and go beyond the usual flavors but still affordable.

Now, food lovers in the Philippines have long known that good quality burger is a must-have item in a casual-style restaurant.

Wham was near an instant hit in its first Quezon City branch for capturing the elements of what an outstanding burger should be: huge, hearty, and tucked with impeccably good beef. Celebrated for its never frozen patty perfection, the secret is also in its grilling equipment—a hybrid of electric and gas with pure charcoal on top.

Cooking under the coals not only creates a savory, smoky flavor with an invitingly charred exterior, it rounds out an incomparable juicy texture in it’s strictly one third pound, certified no extender robust beef with 80-20 lean and fat.

With its no short cuts, homemade-style formula that’s far from a typical fast food style or too expensive hotel burger, Wham is a bold version that sums up to affordable gourmet quality burger.

Prides itself for introducing a 100% Filipino burger brand with outstanding product and service, most people perceive that Wham is an international franchise.

“The initial simplicity of the food and items inspired from my international travels very much worked. Along the way, we had to adapt to Filipino taste, like adding Spaghetti in the menu because kids loved it and wouldn’t eat anything else. And the major draw about our burger is how we cook our patty. We use the old-fashioned real charcoals”, Tony shares.

While its standard speaks for the quality of the ingredients, Wham defied all expectations by introducing something far from a mundane category.

The colorful, comic-inspired interiors of the outlet is a welcoming surprise to the customers from the very beginning since it lends a fun, awe-inspiring vibe which eventually became the signature feel and look of the stores. Interestingly, one of its flagship item “Kapow” was adopted from a comic scene to denote a sound effect.

After Dondi and his family relocated to Cabanatuan, Wham officially became a family-owned business of Tony Yap with wife Camille, brother-in-laws Joby and Kiko with sister-in-law Liza.

It was the then the beginning of its expansion; currently with four branches including it’s first-ever Katipunan QC, SM North Edsa The Block, Molito Alabang and Mall of Asia.

With no bells and whistles or complicated ingredients such as MSG, Wham Burgers remain on top of mind when questing for an affordable delicious burger with real beef that one can taste.

Another factor that gives this classic favorite a breed apart? Side choices such as potato wedges or bite-sized chicken are satisfying and as flavorful as the mains which amps up the burger eating experience.
